Self Study 2 and Week 3 Tutorial
The following is the self-study Task: For the model itself, I followed a tutorial called Blender Modeling for absolute beginners. I had some issues finding some of the buttons that were used due to my blender layout being different but I was eventually able to create a usable model that I liked. I chose not to smooth out the model like in the tutorial as I like the blocky look better.
I then used how to "rig and animate in blender" and "Animation for beginners" to get a sense of how the animation process worked and proceeded to create the three required animations for the tutorial. They were surprisingly simple to make and are somewhat pleasant to look at despite the simplicity.
There are some extra joints in the shoulders and pelvis areas to make the animations look more natural.
The following are the animations and how they were made.
Idle Breathing animation: Moving the arms and shoulders up and down to simulate breathing.
Wave Animation: Moving one arm into position then making the forearm and hand wave.
Walking animation: Making the legs and arms move in synch by manipulating the upper arms and legs.
